The Research Forum of the Department of Film Studies, The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, organized a Conversation with Prof. Subramanian Shankar on the topic "Translating Myth and Literature in Cinema" on 10 August, 2016 in the Conference Room of the EFL University. The interlocutors in the conversation were Ms. Angita Ram V., Research Scholar, Department of Translation Studies and Ms. Gauri Nori, Research Scholar, Department of Film Studies. Prof. Shankar is a critic, novelist, and translator. His scholarly areas of interest are postcolonial literature, literature of immigration, film, and translation studies. He is Professor of English and Director of the Creative Writing Program at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. The following are the videos of the conversation in sequential order. The conversation was followed by an open discussion, where a number of contemporary issues relating to translation and cinema came up, in what proved to be overall a very fruitful and engaging discussion.
